I grew up in Plymouth, Devon, & studied medicine at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in London, graduating in 1984. I studied general medicine at post-graduate level until 1994, gaining experience in clinical genetics, dermatology, renal medicine, endocrinology & oncology. I also spent some years studying histopathology.
Unfortunately, severe illness forced my retirement in 1994. I first came across acupuncture in my search for treatments which would help with my own chronic pain & debilitating illness. Chinese medicine (acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chi Gung & Tai Chi) helped me to recover from a prolonged period of ill-health. My health improved to the extent that I became well enough to study acupuncture myself! I have recently completed a three year nine month BSc honours degree course in Chinese medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
I am currently in practice in Glossop & I also volunteer at a drop-in clinic in the Complementary Therapies Department at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. I have also recently been appointed as a part-time lecturer at the University of Kingston & lecture undergraduates on Conventional Medical Sciences at the College of Integrated Chinese medicine, where I did my acupuncture training.
I am passionate about the benefits of acupuncture; it benefits body, mind & spirit. It can help with recovery from many injuries & ailments, but can also be a powerful tool to improve general well-being in the absence of specific complaints.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to find out how acupuncture could help you.
